They are all around us – shop-fabricated aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) containing various volumes of petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POLs). Because they are so ubiquitous, ASTs can sometimes become hidden in plain sight, inadvertently eluding certain environmental compliance requirements because of confusing regulatory overlap and murky situation-specific guidance. Probing into SPCC, EPCRA, and State-specific AST applicability and requirements, this presentation will delve into the regulatory overlap governing POL AST management. Attendees will walk away armed with regulatory reference guidance documents and an enlightening, new perspective on aboveground storage tank regulatory requirements, management, and inspections.
